Since that time, gemological laboratories have requested that the Diamond Certificate be termed Diamond Grading Report, so as not to confuse diamond consumers in thinking that any diamond is endorsed by the laboratories, but rather that the diamond in question has been graded in characteristics and categorized by class of the diamond, by the laboratories.


Diamond certificates are the recorded grade report of informational data that accompanies every diamond purchase. Diamond certificates or diamond grade reports, are detailed by a gemological laboratory, which contains the detail the characteristics of each individual diamond, therefore the most important information on the diamond grade report is the name of the gemological laboratory. They retain a copy of each diamond grade report that has been described by their gemological laboratory, and are able to reissue a copy of your diamond grading report, if yours becomes lost.


In a diamond grade report the characteristics of diamond, are listed by the gemological laboratory findings, and include the diamond certificate or report number, which identifies the diamond to the gemological laboratories internal records.
